Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Ajo) claimed pole position in the final seconds of qualifying for tomorrow’s Moto3 race at the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic. The South African had an early quick lap disallowed for exceeding the track limits at turn 9 but came back out in the final part of the session to claim pole by 0.158 from Sky Racing Team VR46 rider Andrea Migno. Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing Moto3) set the third fastest time and will complete the front row of the grid.

Binder’s closest rival in the championship race, Jorge Navarro (Estrella Galicia 0,0), will start from the fourth row of the grid after he could only manage to qualify in 12th place.

Speaking after the qualifying session Binder said,

“I am very happy with this third pole position of the season. I think my fastest lap was far from perfect, because the best one I did was cancelled out. The bike is working well and the more laps I do, the more comfortable I feel. There was a bit more wind in qualifying than in the morning practice session, but still I was able to lower my times. The best thing is that throughout the weekend we have been very strong; in the worst session we have had we were third, and this is very positive for us. It helps us feel strong and face tomorrow’s race confident of fighting for victory.”
